Marcus Myers, O.D. |

Optometrist / Vision Therapy & Rehab

Originally from Wellsboro, Dr. Myers graduated summa cum laude from Lycoming College. He received his doctorate at the Pennsylvania College of Optometry at Salus University, where he graduated with honors after completing clinical coursework in Advanced Pediatrics. Dr. Myers completed his residency in Vision Therapy and Rehabilitation at the State University of New York. After treating patients for a year in Manhattan, working with children and adults with vision problems that affect reading and learning, Dr. Myers returned to his native northcentral PA to raise his children closer to home and bring needed services to this area.

Post-graduate study in vision, learning, and vision therapy enables Dr. Myers to provide services which are unique in this geographical region. Learning-related vision problems often cause frustration with school and homework. Left unchecked, a learning-related vision problem may rob a child of the bright future associated with success in school and higher education. Dr. Myers has assembled caring staff and state-of-the-art technology for the diagnosis and treatment of learning-related vision problems in northcentral PA.

Dr. Myers is the father of three young children who keep mom and dad very busy. Dr. Myers is active in the community as a member of St. James Episcopal Church and the Muncy Lions Club. He serves on the Zoning Hearing Board of Muncy and is a member of the American Optometric Association and the College of Optometrists in Vision Development.

Shelly Minotti |

Therapy Coordinator

As Therapy Coordinator, Shelley ensures that the doctor's individual program of care for each child or adult is completed to the doctor's specifications. Shelley completed the B.A. degree in social work at Mansfield University. Her passion for helping children is evident in her previous seven years of work in child and adoption services. Shelley joined the Vision & Learning Center for the opportunity to help children on a one-on-one basis. After completion of extensive training in vision therapy, Shelley coordinates services in the office and delivers seminars to educators.

Karen Heckman |

Patient Care Coordinator

She has over 23 years of experience in the field of eye care. Karen is a knowledgeable and careful listener who helps the doctor with patient history information. She is frequently the first person to greet you at the office. As well as answering questions about in-office workshops and patient evaluations, Karen can speak personally about our services because her granddaughter recently graduated from vision therapy.

Suzanne Lenio, M.Ed |

Special Education Teacher/ Vision Therapist

Suzanne has spent most of her life working with children. She has a master’s degree and retired from teaching after thirty three years in the classroom. The majority of her teaching experience is with elementary school children who were identified as Learning Disabled. She also spent five years as a preschool Early Intervention Teacher. She has worked with adults in the ABE/GED program and has tutored children in both reading and math after school hours. Suzanne feels that she has found a “second career” in vision therapy.

“Being a vision therapist fills the void that was left when I stopped teaching after all those years. Although I am in a different role, I still get to work with children. Seeing improvement in patients as they progress through therapy is truly a rewarding experience and I am thrilled to be a part of it.”

Janet Patterson, M.Ed |

Reading Specialist/ Vision Therapist

Janet came to work at the Vision and Learning Center after many years of teaching at the elementary level. In addition to teaching first grade, Janet obtained a Master’s Degree and a Reading Specialist Certificate from Bloomsburg University which enabled her to work with kindergarten through fourth grade with the Title I Reading Program. With a focus on reading, Janet has served as an adjunct professor at Lycoming College, tutored, conducted workshops, and continues to have Parent-Child Reading clinics at the Horseheads Family Resource Center.

As a reading teacher, Janet has had first hand experience in seeing the results and benefits of vision therapy upon learning. Janet has long recognized the relationship of vision and learning while she taught children how to read, encouraging parents to always have their children’s vision checked, knowing how much it can affect the reading and learning process. Janet is delighted to be part of the staff at the Vision and Learning Center.
